Happy Women's Day

Poems:
Beauty of a Woman (Author Unknown)

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,

The figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes,

Because that is the doorway to her heart,

The place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,

But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives,

The passion that she shows.

The beauty of a woman

With passing years - only grows.

Poems by Maya Angelou

Woman Work

I've got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I've got the shirts to press
The tots to dress
The cane to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
and the cotton to pick.

Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again/

Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float acrossthe sky
Till I can rest again.

Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.

Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You're all that I can call my own.

When I think about myself,
I almost laugh myself to death,
My life has been one great big joke,
A dance that's walked,
A song that's spoke,
I laugh so hard I almost choke,
When I think about myself...

They Ask Why
A certain person wondered why
a big strong girl like me
wouldn't keep a job
which paid a normal salary.
I took my time to lead her
and to read her every page.
Even minimal people
can't survive on minimal wage.

A certain person wondered why
I wait all week for you.
I didn't have the words
to describe just what you do.
I said you had the motion
of the ocean in your walk,
and when you solve my riddles
you don't even have to talk.

Songs:
Listen to:
Beyonce - If I Were a Boy
If I were a boy
Even just for a day
I’d roll outta bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted then go
Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I’d kick it with who I wanted
And I’d never get confronted for it.
Cause they’d stick up for me...

This letter was sent to me by my US friends in 2001, and I have kept it in my computer (Sorry, I don't know the author of the chain letter):

·

An English professor wrote the words, "Woman without  her man is nothing," on  the blackboard and directed the students to  punctuate it correctly. The men  wrote: "Woman, without her man, is nothing." The women wrote: "Woman!  Without her, man is nothing."

The Images of Mother

4 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mommy can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mother doesn't really know  quite everything.

14 YEARS OF AGE ~ Naturally, Mother doesn't know  that, either.

 16 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mother? She's hopelessly  old-fashioned.

18 YEARS OF AGE ~ That old woman? She's way out of  date!

25 YEARS OF AGE ~ Well, she might know a little bit  about it.

35 YEARS OF AGE ~ Before we decide, let's get Mom's  opinion.

45 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wonder what Mom would have thought  about it?

65 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wish I could talk it over with  Mom.
